About

I’m Michael B. Sims, PhD Candidate in the Interdisciplinary PhD Program in Near and Middle Eastern Studies at the University of Washington.  I am currently (2017-2019) researching as an American Research Institute in Turkey and Social Science Research Fellow for a forthcoming dissertation on communal identity formation in the Late Ottoman period. This page will share links related to the study of the Late Ottoman Empire, the Syriac Christian tradition, Ezidism, Kurdish Studies and the histories of Southeast Anatolia and Northern Iraq. I will also share my own translations of various Kurdish, Syriac, Arabic, Turkish and Ottoman Turkish texts which may hopefully be of benefit to scholars and the general public.
